The Franklin Electric is a Montreal-based indie folk project led by singer-songwriter and producer Jon Matte. Originally a collective of friends and musicians, the project now captivates audiences worldwide with its intimate, emotive sounds.
Jon’s lyrics explore self-discovery, relationships and the subtleties of the human experience. With a Juno nomination for Revelation of the Year in 2019 and an ADISQ nomination for Anglophone Performance of the Year in 2024, their impact continues to grow. In 2023, the band releases “Oh Brother”, a collection of highly personal songs in which Jon delves into his relationship with his brother while raising awareness of mental health issues.
In August 2024, The Franklin Electric unveiled Victory Songs (Vol. 1), an EP that tackles the themes of choice and the realities of victory and defeat. The band is now preparing to release the full album entitled Victory Songs in May 2025, promising to further enrich their narrative sound. With each release, The Franklin Electric invites its fans on a deep and resonant musical journey.
